![]() Having this ability in the game still offers a good bit of replayability if the nineteen tracks and The Playground don’t cut it. ![]() If creating the tracks aren’t your thing, the option to download tracks is still there. The height maps allow for different terrains to be selected and will add more variety to each course. The process isn’t overly complicated but isn’t completely simple. MXGP 2020 now offers a choice of four different height maps that will offer more realism when creating tracks. ![]() The Track Editor also returns as Milestone has opened a new chapter. The game also forces you to create the player upon initial boot. There’s no engagement in between races so it’s basically just a Championship Mode with a created player. Unfortunately, the Career Mode is short-sighted especially when compared to the MotoGP series. Bikes can be customized with official parts and can also be repainted, but the liveries can be limited based on the sponsor that’s chosen. Players can choose different sponsors that will allow them to net more money for winning races. Milestone has included a Career Mode that allows players to create a rider and race as a rookie or to join an established team. This also includes varying weather for the courses that will change the terrain. While the season is over, players will still have access to all 68 riders of both the MXGP and MX2 Championships along with 19 different circuits. MXGP 2020 encompasses everything about the 2020 MXGP season. Players can also race with their friends on these Waypoints or just free roam around the area and get their bearings down. Players can create and share routes for the Waypoint Mode, which is essentially a designer of sorts. The area is heavily wooded with high terrain and a backdrop of rivers and mountains. The best backdrop looks to be added to the series this year with the Norwegian fjords. The Playground allows players to ride around in an open terrain with friends. There’s no doubt that Milestone has thought outside the box with the MXGP series in recent years. There are a few caveats that could have pushed the experience further, but for this early attempt on this hardware, fans of the series will enjoy this. The game also adds the uses of the DualSense controller. The racing experience is unquestionably the best the series has ever seen as the game runs at 60 FPS. Thankfully, the power of the PlayStation 5 has unlocked the series to its true potential. The next-generation version has finally released, and it is basically a one-for-one swap in terms of its design. Ultimately, what seemed to hold it back was the hardware the game was running on. Which may be a bummer to people who don't follow the real sport, and don't care about playing the new schedule, but if you're serious about motocross - real or virtual - MXGP 2021: The Official Motocross Videogame, as always, will let you get down and dirty.MXGP 2020 released only a few weeks ago on last generation and proved to be an excellent experience. But while it also has the usual improvements to the physics, controls, and under-the-hood aspects that every new edition of a racing game (hopefully) gets, this doesn't add anything new that really changes the game. In addition, the "Career" mode now lets you switch from an official real-world racing team to one you put together yourself. And, like most racing games these days, it gives you the option of having the physics be realistic or forgiving.Īs for what this new edition adds, not only does it have an updated schedule of events, but it also has four "Legacy Tracks," i.e., classic race events in Mexico, Italy, France, and Portugal from previous versions of the game. ![]() Like previous MXGP games, it boasts numerous online races, as well as a track editor so you can build and share your own courses. It also has a deep career mode, one-off events in which you race against the clock ("Time Attack") or computer-controlled competition ("Grand Prix"), as well as a mode in which you can play an official series of races or one you put together with up to twenty events ("Championship"). It also has tons of options, which not only allow you to customize your rider and the mechanics of your chosen bike, but the conditions of the races. Like previous installment in this series, MXGP 2021: The Official Motocross Videogame has you driving dirt bikes on dirty and muddy tracks that are full of tight turns, small bumps, and large leaps. Though it doesn't add anything radically new, this year's model is still a solid driving game for fans of dirt bike racing.
